Hello Everyone,

You are invited to attend The Foundry GeekFest Asia on Wednesday 15th December starting at 1pm at the Coex Convention Center, Seoul.

We’ve got a great line up of customer presenters who will wow you with their work using Nuke and Mari. We will also have a special session dedicated to Storm and new developments for 2011 from The Foundry.

SESSION 1: NUKE & OCULA

We’ve got two fantastic guest presenters to show us how they’ve been putting NUKE through it’s paces in the real world of production. Abishek Nair, Compositor from ILM Singapore will show us their work on Iron Man II & Chris Bremble, VFX Supervisor|CEO from Base FX will take us through their Emmy Award Winning work on HBO’s Pacific.

Our very own Matt Plec will then show off ourOCULA toolset – used to help correct stereo issues on Avatar and Tron: Legacy – before providing a sneak peek at the NUKE Product Roadmap and a look at Nukepedia.

There will also be a Q&A session with guest speakers and The Foundry staff

Micheal Cox, Texture Technical Supervisor from Weta Digital – where MARI was originally developed – will show us how they used displacement maps onAvatar.

SESSION 3: STORM PLUS MORE!!

STORM is brand new product from The Foundry and Nathalie Bergeron will show you what all the fuss is about. If you work with RED camera footage then this is the session for you.

Bruno Nicoletti, The Foundry’s legendary CTO, will then let you in on some internal GPU magic being developed internally as well as Katana.

NUKE 6.1v3 and NUKEX 6.1v3 are out!

Nuke 6.1v3 contains bug fixes for QuickTime, the Keyer node and improved support for working in the Japanese locale. Check out the release notes to find out more.

NUKE and NUKEX 6.1 – with sneak peak at 6.2

The Foundry team will showcase the latest release of NUKE and NUKEX 6.1 as well as providing a glimpse as to what’s coming in NUKE 6.2 (due in Q4). NUKE 6.1 adds Ultimatte, improved 3D workflow, Framecycler Pro, RotoPaint improvements and much much more. NUKEX 6.1 brings additional features to the 3D CameraTracker. The team will wet your appetite by showing the image modeller and dope sheet that are coming in Nuke 6.2.

MARI is a brand new creative 3D texture painting product, originally developed at Weta Digital to handle the exceedingly detailed look development and texture work demanded by Avatar. MARI copes easily with an obsessive level of detail – literally tens of thousands of textures – quickly and elegantly.
With the help of some talented artists, we’ll be giving you a good look at MARI what it is and why you might like painting with it. The Windows version has just entered our beta.

OCULA is The Foundry’s unique collection of plug-in tools that address common problems experienced with stereoscopic imagery in post production. STORM – FIRST SHOWING AT IBC

STORM is a brand new product developed by The Foundry bringing assistance to RED Digital Cinema camera production workflows. STORM generates and carries metadata, a vital element of the digital cinema camera workflow, along with the native footage connecting various production stages such as review, look development, editing, and final grading to the overall production context. Ted Schilowitz from RED will be on The Foundry stand throughout IBC, take a look at our schedule to find out more.

Certified Nuke Training in Singapore August 2010

Certified Nuke Training was successfully held at Media Village in Singapore this August 2010. Certified Nuke Trainer, Ms Janice Tso was on location to deliver this course. The attendees came from neighboring countries like Philippines, Thailand and Singapore from the post production sectors. This five day hands-on course is based on Fatbars Limited Training Services : Digital Compositing with Nuke 101 with training materials written and created for this course. By attending this certified course, the attendees received an official completion certificate from The Foundry Training Central Asia.

The certified online exam was also successfully attempted by the attendees. By passing certification exams, they became an Certified Nuke End User for Level 101. All successful candidates are now listed in the official The Foundry Training Central Asia Website.

Certified Nuke Training in DaLian, China

China’s first certified Nuke Training was successfully held at Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in DaLian, China. Based on Nuke 6, Certified Nuke Trainers from Beijing HappyView Information Consulting Co. Ltd, Mr Huang Liang 黄亮 and Guo Yanjun 郭彦君 was on location to deliver this course. Although they are based in Beijing, Beijing HappyView Information Consulting Co. Ltd brought their classroom to many on-site locations within China. Bringing certified training to different parts of the country.

The attendees were teachers and students that came from Film and TV Studio of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. With a class size of 15, two certified trainers were on site to make sure that everyone in class were given ample attention. This hands-on course is based on Fatbars Limited Training Services : Digital Compositing with Nuke 101 with training materials written and created for this course. By attending this certified course, the attendees received an official completion certificate from The Foundry Training Central Asia.

Through customized visual effects shots created for this course, students will learn to combine live action with computer-generated elements, key blue and green screen shots, combine motion tracking data into Nuke’s 3D compositing world and create multi-layer composites using Nuke’s node tree organizational structure.
